About Us
Advanced manufacturing of materials. Synergistically produced.
Synamat is a production service, specializing in ultrafast laser-based systems, manufacturing advanced materials for the energy, semiconductor, and electronics sectors.
Purpose and mission
Synamat was founded with the initial project, in collaboration with Rivas PiTech Ltd. & ThermOptical Cooling LLC, of converting low-grade and low-value lignite coal and activated carbon into high-performance, high-value, battery-grade graphite for lithium-ion batteries.
With the resilience of global supply chains faltering, and the heavy reliance upon overseas supply of graphite for critical domestic infrastructure, Synamat’s mission is to shore up and firmly establish a domestic supply of graphite, and other advanced materials, in the USA and Canada.

Experience
Victor Rivas, co-founder of the Synamat project, and CEO of ThermOptical Cooling LLC, is a serial inventor with multiple patents awarded/pending who specializes in engineering disruptive, cost-effective technologies. He has collaborated and consulted in technology development with NASA, the U.S. Department of Energy and the Southwest Research Institute.
Current projects
- Rivas PiTech Ltd. has been awarded a grant by the Municipal Coal Transition Assistance program, through the City of Estevan, Canada, for the project of converting low-grade and low-value lignite coal and activated carbon from the Estevan region into high-performance, high-value, battery-grade graphite for lithium-ion batteries. ThermOptical Cooling LLC is providing the hardware, the laser workstation, in the implementation of the project, and Synamat project is involved in the commercialization of the manufacturing technology.
- Synamat and ThermOptical Cooling LLC is looking for a “sister-city” coal community to couple efforts already underway in Estevan, Canada. If you are a coal community or company looking for revitalization, economic development, and bourgeoning manufacturing, contact us to partner in this bi-national coalition (or as we like to say ‘coal’ition).

What we do
Synamat is a production service, specializing in ultrafast laser-based systems, manufacturing advanced materials for the energy, semiconductor,
and electronics sectors. Synamat applies a system of systems approach for the most optimized production services,to bring advanced materials to the forefront efficiently. The process starts with…
THE COR SUBSYSTEM
The heart, (Latin = ‘cor’), of the system is the laser. It is the prmary subsystem which enables all parts to work synergistically. Syamat understands that high quality production in laser-based machinery relies heavily on this ‘cor’.
THE SYSTEM
The cor subsystem, the laser, is integrated by our integration package (IP) provider ThermOptical Cooling Technologies, who Synamat is in close partnership with to deliver on the production service that these workstations are in turn to provide.
